Pancake Supper, Feb 25th

Trinity’s annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held the evening of Tuesday, Feb  25th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Join us for pancakes, sausage and eggs. Watch your weekly min-messenger for more information. Tickets will go on sale in Sunday –  Adults $6, Kids $5, Under 5 Free.

The word “shrove” is a form of the English word shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one’s sins by way of Confession and doing penance. Thus Shrove Tuesday was named after the custom of Christians to be “shriven” before the start of Lent. Pancakes were traditionally eaten on the day before Ash Wednesday because they were a way to use up eggs, milk, and sugar before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. Many people “give something up” during Lent as a way to prepare for Easter.
